Dan St. John, Chairman, CEO
Dan began his career at a small PR shop before having the opportunity to head up communications for a prominent, private hospital. While there, he led the successful and award winning “Centennial Celebration” campaign for St. Luke’s Hospital. He was then asked to join The William Cook Agency, one of the premier agencies in the Southeast at the time. He soon switched to the advertising side of the agency, and by the end of his 12 years there, was responsible for managing some of the agency’s largest and most high-profile accounts. In 1984, Dan decided it was time for an even bigger challenge and started his own agency with William Robinson. The new venture, Robinson & St. John, recorded $500,000 in billings in its first year and grew to be an $18 million agency by 1993. That year, he bought his partner’s ownership in the agency and later renamed it St. John & Partners. He continues to play an important role in helping our clients succeed and has guided SJ&P to steady and consistent growth. Dan served on the national 4A’s board for three years.
Jeff McCurry, President, COO
Equal parts account guy, management consultant, planner and writer, Jeff has for what seems like forever been our “in case of emergency break glass” guy – get him involved (and no, it doesn’t have to be an emergency) and you’ll get to a simple, strategic solution. But beyond problem solver, Jeff’s real interest is in what’s ahead – how social, technological and business trends change our lives and our work. In his role as president and chief operating officer, Jeff is steering the agency toward a future driven by what he believes are two mandatory skill sets: adaptive content and 24/7 on-demand connectivity (we were relieved he was referring to brands, not us). Jeff is the father of three teenagers (back to that emergency skill set), a graduate of The Ohio State University, former Chair of the 4A’s Florida Council and a product of agencies in Philadelphia, Cincinnati and, of course, Jacksonville.
Peter Herbst, VP Executive Creative Director
Peter has 20 years of industry experience, five years at SJ&P, and currently oversees all creative work product of the agency. Peter joined the agency from Y&R, New York, and brings with him a host of experience and insight on clients like American Express, Lufthansa, Green Mountain Coffee, Nets Basketball and Valvoline. A staunch believer in the collaborative process, Peter knows a good idea can come from anywhere, and more importantly, how to shepherd that idea into a clear, precise and highly creative piece of communication. Peter is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of New York.
Ian Latchmansingh, Director Digital & UX Strategy
Ian is a seasoned user experience leader with an emphasis on human-centered design and design thinking. He first joined SJ&P in 2013 as lead experience designer where he helped architect award-winning digital websites and experiences for iconic brands such as Daytona International Speedway, Marriott and The US Forestry Service’s Smokey Bear. Ian briefly left SJ&P to direct the user experience department for an HR technology startup but has since returned to SJ&P as UX director and lead digital strategist, helping brands like The Association of Boarding Schools, Rooms To Go and others develop engaging and results-focused digital strategies. Prior to working with SJ&P, Ian was lead designer at Vizergy, an interactive hospitality marketing firm. He is also an accomplished poster designer and design thinking facilitator. Ian holds a bachelor of arts degree in graphic design and a minor in fine art from Flagler College in St. Augustine. In his spare time, Ian enjoys sound design and record-collecting.
Lisa Gearhart, VP Customer & Content Strategy
Trend watcher. Conversation catalyst. Avid listener. Poet. Mom. Just a few words to describe our 25-year agency veteran and leader of all the agency’s strategic planning and research efforts. Lisa has undeniable passion for and experience in helping companies such as Vistakon/Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Mayo Clinic, American Health Care Association, Florida Power & Light and American Express connect with employees, consumers and influencers. When she’s not talking with people about their life transitions, she’s busy reading, writing and working to bring them together with companies who can make the changes people seek to improve their lives.
Jenifer Harmon, VP Account Group Director
Jenifer leads our retail client practice, helping lead successful efforts on behalf of a diverse client set including Zaxby’s (QSR/fast casual), the Florida Lottery, Smoothie King and PARC Management, which operates former Six Flags theme parks around the country. Jenifer’s understanding of marketing is rooted in 25+ years of experience on both the agency and client sides of the desk. Jenifer has an amazing ability to galvanize teams around a plan and marketing partners around a vision of what is possible. How does she do it? As a mother of four, Jenifer is an expert at time management.
Jen Hettler, Integrated Media Director
Jen joined St. John & Partners in 2010 as the lead planner
on Zaxby’sand now leads the discipline for the agency at large. She has over 13 years of experience in media strategy and execution, specializing in integrated planning and digital buying, measurement, and data-driven strategy. Her media experience includes time at Walt Disney World in Orlando, as well as work on Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Caribbean, the Panama City Beach, FL CVB, and Mexico Tourism Board accounts at Ypartnership. Prior to joining SJ&P, she also worked on numerous other travel, tourism, and real estate brands including Honduras, Disney Vacation Club, DR Horton and Tate Britain. A graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY, she moved to Florida after college to become a professional wakeskater. These days, when she is not negotiating with reps or poring over data, you will still find her out on the water wakeskating or surfing.
