Bill Koenigsberg, President, CEO, Founder
With over 30 years’ experience in the media industry, Bill Koenigsberg’s role at Horizon Media, which he founded in 1989, begins with setting leadership standards and enforcing a client service and strategic philosophy…the hallmarks of the company’s success.

With billings over $4 billion dollars and 800 employees, Horizon Media is the largest and fastest-growing independent media agency in the world, representing clients such as GEICO, Capital One, United Airlines, A&E Networks, Weight Watchers as well as numerous others.

Under Bill’s leadership, Horizon was named the 2011 Independent Media Agency of the Year by Mediapost Magazine and in 2010 Media Agency of the Year by both Ad Age and Adweek/Mediaweek/Brandweek, was selected as one of the world’s most innovative advertising and marketing firms in 2011 by Fast Company and was named one of the Best Places to Work in Media and Marketing in 2011 and 2012 by Ad Age.

Bill is regularly sought out by the industry press for his authoritative insights into marketing and media trends and is often asked to sit on industry conference panels. Bill was named Ad Age Executive of the Year in 2011 and is the only person to receive the prestigious Advertising Age Media Maven Award twice, in 2001 and 2010. In 2006, Bill was honored as Media Executive of the Year by Mediaweek Magazine and was featured as one of the industry’s top 50 most influential executives in the business in the annual Mediaweek 50 report in 2008, 2009 and 2010. In addition, Bill was honored as one of the 21 most intriguing people in the media industry by Min Online in 2009. In 2012, Bill was awarded The National Kidney Foundation’s “Visionary Leader Award” for his continued dedication and support. Bill was also awarded the IRTS Foundation “Hall of Mentorship Award” for his knowledge to help others learn and grow. In 2012, Bill was honored by The National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) and The Power of Urban Radio Alliance for his strong commitment and leadership around the committee's adoption of the 4As Non Discrimination Policy and Complaint Review Process. In 2011, Bill was awarded City Harvest’s “the Star of the City Award” for this longstanding commitment to and support of the organization. In 2010, he was awarded the Reisenbach Foundation’s “Distinguished Citizen Award” for his contributions to the organization’s goal of creating a safer New York.

Bill plays an active role as board member on many industry committees. He is currently Chairman of the Media Policy Board and director-at-large of the 4A’s Board of Directors. He also serves on the board of the International Radio and Television Society. Bill is Chairman of the Board for Columbus Media International, Horizon’s sister global media services company that provides international coverage across 60 territories worldwide including North America, Latin America, Europe, Russia and Asia Pacific. Bill serves on the board of City Harvest and led Horizon in making a $250,000 donation to the organization as part of Horizon’s 20th anniversary celebration. Also in 2011, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Partnership at Drugfree.org and as Chairman of the Media Exposure Committee.

Prior to the establishment of Horizon Media in 1989, he was EVP of Media General Inc.’s Media Services Division. He also held positions at advertising agencies and media services companies.

Bill graduated from The University of Miami with a Bachelor of Business Administration. A New Yorker all his life, Bill currently resides in Manhattan with his wife Jessica and has three children. For leisure, Bill enjoys skiing, traveling and the beach.
Rich Simms, EVP, Managing Partner
Rich oversees the retail practice at Horizon, managing brands such as Capital One, Little Caesars, Whitewave Foods, Starkist, and Helzberg Diamonds. Rich started his career in New York working on P&G and General Foods brands in media planning before joining Ogilvy and Mather as the account lead on Shell Oil. Over the years, Rich has also worked with many category leaders and challenger brands in the restaurant, technology and sports categories.

Rich has spent his career managing account assignments for some of the world’s best known retail brands. Prior to joining Horizon, Rich was a regional director for Initiative Media with responsibility for strategic plan development and account management for The Home Depot, Federated Department Stores and BellSouth,

A self-proclaimed adrenaline junky, Rich uses every spare moment he has kayaking down the country’s best white water rapids.
Serena Duff, EVP, General Manager, Western Region
Serena sets the vision and drives the culture at Horizon’s Los Angeles office. Her creative zeal and commitment to excellence was honed over the past 20+ years at agencies such as TBWA/Chiat Day, Deutsch, OMD, and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

With an unwavering belief that media is the most exciting part of marketing, Serena has led connections planning for some of the world’s most innovative and iconic brands including Sony, Visa, HBO, Neutrogena and ABSOLUT.

Serena believes in defying convention and the relentless pursuit of a better way. This philosophy extends to her home life as well, where she can be found defying convention in the kitchen and relentlessly pursuing a better way to pack as much enjoyment as possible into time spent with her husband and seven year old twins.
Zach Rosenberg, Chief Growth Officer
After spearheading the tremendous growth of the Los Angeles office for the past 13 years, Zach took on the role of Chief Growth Officer and continues to build Horizon’s West coast offering. Zach is responsible for increasing Horizon’s core business as well as that of its specialty divisions, Scout Sports and Event Marketing, Direct Marketing, Eden Road Trading and Columbus Media International, Horizon’s international agency network.

Zach’s ability to nurture business relationships was honed over the past 30 years working in account management at JWT, DDB, Chiat/Day and Initiative Media. His leadership was acknowledged in 2009, when he was given thinkLA’s prestigious Leader of the Year award. Zach’s philosophy of providing unparalleled service has been the cornerstone of his track record for building client relationships that last a lifetime.

Married with two teenage boys, Zach forced them into a life of golf and now loses to them on a regular basis.
Donnie Williams, Chief Digital Officer
Donnie envisions “what’s next” in a dynamic digital world, and then brings to fruition creative, customized solutions for Horizon’s clients. He leads a rapidly expanding team of 115 strategists, with established capabilities in both the New York and Los Angeles offices.

With the mindset that Digital is not a media channel, but a way of life, Donnie forges partnerships with emerging vendors and develops proprietary tools to gain a clear understanding of the connected consumer of today. In addition to overseeing Horizon’s entertainment, financial service, retail, and CPG digital strategy, he is helping to deliver media innovation, engagement and sales across all digital platforms. Horizon’s composition of clients includes GEICO, Capital One, History, Crown Imports and Jack In The Box, to name a few.

Donnie has been instrumental in the development of additional digital services at Horizon including social marketing, a full service mobile suite, and a creative media and content development practice. Under his leadership, the digital group has quadrupled in size and has expanded capabilities in the New York and Los Angeles offices.

Prior to Horizon, Donnie worked at Ignited Minds and Carat Fusion on Hyundai, Kia, and Activision.

Donnie graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2000, is a rabid Badger football fan, and still concludes approximately 25% of his emails with the signature “On Wisconsin.”
Vinnie O'Toole, Chief Financial Officer
Vinnie oversees Finance, IT Technology, Business Affairs, Shared Services and Facilities, and makes sure that the backbone of Horizon’s business infrastructure is running smoothly. Under his management, Horizon has seen exponential growth, including building out enhanced service offerings such as Horizon’s Eden Road Trade Division and Blab Inc., a unique social media technology platform of which Vinnie is a board member.

With senior-level experience at MTV Network, Simon & Schuster Publishing, Paramount Communications and Arthur Andersen, his well-rounded resume makes him a perfect financial leader for our diverse client list.

Enjoying some adventure in his spare time, Vinnie can be found on the open water or skiing with his family.
Eileen Benwitt, Chief Talent Officer
As the brain child for Horizon’s best-in-industry standard, Eileen oversees the success of Horizon Media’s talent management practice by striving to build a team of extraordinarily energetic and motivated employees, with an approach that fosters integration between the personal and the professional.

A two-time winner of one of AdAge’s highest honors, Best Places to Work in Advertising & Media, Horizon has excelled in growth but also in the carefully cultivated culture that spans both coasts. Responsible for not only recruiting top talent, but also maintaining Horizon’s record of talent retention, Eileen created a forward-thinking career development program that boasts a caliber that is unmatched in the industry. Prior to joining Horizon Media, Benwitt worked for four years as executive vice president of human resources at MPG. Previously, she was executive vice president of human resources at Porter Novelli.

Stephen Hall, Chief Marketing Officer
Stephen is equal parts storyteller and shepherd as he leads Horizon’s business development and marketing efforts. He is a big believer in the power of Horizon’s entrepreneurial culture and spends his time thinking of new ways to bring the Horizon experience to life for current clients and potential new partners.
