Greg Kurowski, President & CEO
Greg has been at the helm of Periscope since 1999, and has played a major role in helping build the organization into a leading national marketing communications company. Greg has focused his energy and resources on the fostering and management of an organization that has highly diverse disciplines and in-sourced implementation capabilities that support the strategic and creative ideas. Prior to Periscope, Greg was Senior VP, Strategic Development at Martin/Williams Advertising and also held management positions at Carmichael Lynch Advertising and Bozell Worldwide. As a 29-year marketing veteran, Greg brings a broad business perspective to integrated communication planning and for both traditional and nontraditional communications. An expert in a variety of distribution channels, Greg understands the importance of creating highly integrated programs that produce marketplace success. Greg received his BS degree from St. Cloud State University and his MBA from the University of St. Thomas. He has been named to the “200 People to Watch” in Minnesota, “40 Under 40” and sits on the Board of Directors for Treehouse, a non-profit organization that benefits at-risk youth.
Mark Haumersen, VP, Exec. Creative Director
Mark has 28 years of creative and design experience and is one of the leading creative talents in the industry. Prior to Periscope, Mark was VP/ Associate Creative Director at Martin / Williams Advertising in Minneapolis. Mark’s extensive client list includes UnitedHealth Group, Cox Communications, Arctic Cat, Marvin Windows, U.S. Bank, Golf Galaxy, Marigold Foods, MasterCraft boats, Target Corporation, Bridgestone Commercial Tire Group, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, the Minnesota Twins and Jockey International, among many others. One of the most experienced and acclaimed creative directors in the Midwest, Mark has produced work featured in Archive Magazine, Communication Arts, Print Case Books and several college textbooks. His work has also been recognized in every major award show in the United States, including the Kelly Awards, Clios, Effies, Cannes Film Festival, Communication Arts Annual, The One Show, New York Art Directors’ Club, Obies, The Show and several Retail Advertising Conference (RAC) awards. Mark has a BA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
Charlie Callahan, VP, Exec. Creative Director
Charlie has been VP, Executive Creative Director at Periscope since 2002 and VP, Creative Director since 1996. Prior to Periscope, Charlie was with Martin/Williams Advertising and at Kaufman Stewart Advertising, both in Minneapolis. Charlie has worked in all categories from retail and consumer durables to consumer services and sporting goodsd. His copywriting experience includes Buffalo Wild Wings, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Treasure Island Resort & Casino, Buca di Beppo, Famous Dave’s, Metro Transit, the Minnesota Twins, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Blockbuster Video and Great Clips. Charlie’s work has been featured in Communication Arts, several college textbooks and on ABC’s America’s Funniest Commercials. He has also earned recognition from numerous award shows, including multiple Emmy awards, The Effies, Clios, The One Show, Andys, Obies, Creativity, Print, The Show, RAC, New York Art Directors’ Club and several awards from The National Sports Forum for the nation’s best sports marketing campaigns. Charlie earned a BA in marketing and economics from St. Ambrose University. He has worked as an advertising instructor for the Minneapolis branch of the Miami Advertising School and is the author of a popular children’s book, “Samantha Loses Her Sweet Tooth.”
Virginia Hines, VP, CFO/COO
Virginia joined Periscope as Chief Financial Officer in 1995. A certified public accountant, she was a tax manager for ten years for McGladrey & Pullen, a national public accounting firm, prior to joining Periscope. Virginia oversees financial, administrative, office management and human resources operations within Periscope. Her 25 years of experience insures solid, reliable financial performance not only for Periscope, but for its clients as well. Virginia serves on the AAAA (American Association of Advertising Agencies) Financial Committee, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of CPAs. Virginia received her bachelor of science degree from Minnesota State University.
William Simpson, Chairman
Bill is the Chairman of the Board and Executive Director at Periscope, With 38 years of experience, Bill has implemented three highly successful acquisitions that have transformed a family-owned typesetting business founded in 1960 into today’s multifaceted marketing communications agency. Bill has staffed an incredible team to lead many aspects of the agency while focusing on organizational dynamics, execution, finance, legal and human resources. He is committed to acquiring and maintaining the best talent in the industry and making it possible for everyone in the company to do their best work, which ensures Periscope's commitment to excellence across all disciplines. By creating a unique, vertically integrated operation with superior talent, Bill has successfully combined dynamic marketing communications with flawless execution, all within an environment that fosters staff and work product excellence. Bill has served on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, the Open Book, Summit Academy OIC and the Academy of Holy Angels.
Jenifer Anhorn, VP, Brand Director
Jenifer's no stranger to being at the helm of pretty terrific brands. In her 20+ years as a CMO, brand strategist, client whisperer and all-around marketing maven, she's racked up successes on a mouth-watering list of restaurant and retail brands. As a former client-side CMO, she brings an in-the-trenches perspective to our clients' brands. While serving as Papa Murphy's chief marketing officer, her role incorporated everything from branding and product development to digital, social media and merchandising — and a whole lot in between. It's no wonder she has an innate sense of what it takes to create integrated teams of subject matter experts. All that combined makes Jenifer the ideal person to create impactful marketing programs for our existing clients as well as bring new growth opportunities into their marketing mix.
Victor Kimble, VP, Director of Strategy & Analytics
After 13 years of East Coast living, Victor traded in NYC subways for Minneapolis skyways to join Periscope in 2011 as VP, Director of Strategy & Analytics. Victor is an experienced leader of global brands and businesses. He joined Periscope from Ogilvy & Mather in New York where he was Sr. Partner, Managing Director overseeing all aspects of Kimberly-Clark’s Adult Feminine Care portfolio in North America. He also served as a member of Ogilvy’s Global Brand Management team helping manage the health of Ogilvy’s 28 client businesses across the globe. Prior to Ogilvy, Victor spent eight years at Deutsch where he managed the Johnson & Johnson / McNeil Consumer Healthcare business, including Motrin, St. Joseph’s and Tylenol. Beginning his career in Minneapolis, Victor cut his teeth at Fallon, working on a variety of brands including Weight Watchers, Johnson Worldwide, Children’s Defense Fund and 3M. In 1998 Victor was given the opportunity to move to New York to help Fallon strengthen its New York presence bringing his expertise to a variety of brands including ABC Sports, Conseco, MindSpring ISP, Silversea Cruises and Timberland. He led all marketing communications efforts for Georgia-Pacific’s North American Consumer Paper Products Division supporting Brawny paper towels and napkins, and Vanity Fair napkins. Victor holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Cloud State University where he majored in mass communications and marketing.
