Getting your well-deserved promotion is thrilling. But if management responsibilities are tied into your enhanced position, you can be set up for failure if you don’t have an entirely different skill set that’s not taught in ad school or on the job anymore.

Too often, the “soft skills” and mature perspective needed to motivate, inspire and effectively direct others can only be gleaned from osmosis and making mistakes. It’s sink or swim and too many sink. This one-day workshop will give you leadership tools and insights to ensure your success.

Overview
The shift from self-focus to group focus is a big one, and critical to leading effectively. Creatives who have been immersed in building their own body of work, promoting themselves and learning their craft now need to redirect much of their energies to creating conditions for the success of others and can feel at a loss. Shifting from short-term goals to taking the longer view on accounts, the company and the work doesn’t always come naturally. This workshop helps creatives make the big transition from “me” to “we.”

It will offer translation of their new reality, shows them how to create great relationships with people key to delivering the best work and supply tools to do better work that they can teach others to use. It will help participants recognize their power, and use it wisely.

Who Should Attend
Anyone in a creative job who is stepping into a management role, is already in that role, or a rising star on their way to the role.

About Your Seminar Leaders
Janet Kestin and Nancy Vonk are the co-founders of Swim. They have delivered transformative leadership training to advertising creatives across North America. (“I got more out of Swim in one hour than a week at Cannes”). They have worked with groups from Ogilvy, Sid Lee, Goodby Silverstein, DentsuBos, Google, Unilever, Kraft, Winners, Scotiabank and the Design Futures Council. Their unconventional program has been news-making; Swim’s ‘11 launch prompted ink in Forbes, Fast Company, Creativity, Adweek, Ad Age, The Globe and Mail and other spaces.

$395 per person, 4A's members
$495 per person, Non 4A's members

Cancellation Policy
Excluding a $25 processing fee, refunds will be granted only if requests for cancellation are received by 4A’s in writing by Tuesday, May 14, 2013. No refunds will be allowed after this date; substitutions will be allowed provided arrangements are made with 4A’s.
