Martin Cass, CEO
Martin serves as both the CEO to Assembly and MDC Media Partners, the media agency umbrella group. Martin brings to Assembly over 25 years of experience leading media agencies, most recently heading Carat. He was instrumental in the growth of the agency through integration of digital capabilities, development of data analytics and scaled adoption of communication planning, culminating in the global appointment by General Motors and the honor of Agency of the Year by the U.S. press for the past two years. Martin brings global executive experience to Assembly having worked across Europe, Asia and North America, partnering with many of the world’s leading marketers, including American Express, Beiersdorf, Diageo, Disney, Gillette, Procter & Gamble, The Home Depot, JM Smucker, Red Bull and Relativity Media.
Michael Nicholas, Chief Innovation Officer
Michael Nicholas is the Entrepreneur in Residence at Assembly, an integrated media agency with unique planning and buying technologies at its core. With two decades of media, creative and technology development experience - including leading agencies and start-ups – Michael has a passionate understanding of brands and technology. An active entrepreneur, Michael was a founder and partner at farm, an innovation consultancy connecting brands and technology start-ups and a co-founder of Weathermob, the mobile, crowd-sourced weather platform. Prior, he was the Chief Strategy Officer at the global creative agency Isobar US where he worked on creative and product development with brands like adidas, Samsung and Sprite. Before that he served as the Director of Innovation at Aegis Media Americas designing award winning communications solutions for brands like Reebok, Coke Zero and Motorola. Today Michael keeps connected to technology start-ups as an active mentor at the Techstars accelerator and as a Fellow at Redstar Ventures.
Steve Farella, Chairman
Steve serves as Chairman at MDC Partners and Assembly Media, a media agency providing scaled media solutions powered by unique planning and buying technologies. Steve began his work in media at Benton & Bowles and over the course of his career he has had extensive experience in nearly every major industry sector. In 2001, Steve founded Targetcast, a media agency specifically designed for strong independent brands, and in the past he has served as the founding CEO of Havas' Media Planning Group, chief media officer at Jordan McGrath Case & Partners, Young & Rubicam, Wells Rich Greene/BDDP and Ammirati & Puris. Currently he’s a member of the Media Policy Committee at the AAAA's, on the Advisory Committee of St. John's University's School of Professional Studies, a speaker at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, a Vice President of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and a past President of the Advertising Club of New York. In 2010, Steve was awarded as part of the first-ever Media All-Star duo, along with his partner Audrey, for the creation of TargetCast tcm.
Michael Day, Chief Financial Officer
Michael Day is the Chief Financial Officer for Assembly, responsible for all aspects of management and M&A of the the company, overseeing financial reporting, compliance, corporate finance and investor relations. Michael also provides the leadership role across IT and Real Estate, while driving performance and maximizing profitable growth. Michael brings 20 years of experience to his current role. Prior to joining Assembly, Michael served as the CFO for MDC Media Partners, and as the Global CFO of McCann Healthcare Worldwide. Michael also served as SVP, Global Business and Client Finance, and CFO of N.A. Advertising division at Publicis Healthcare Communications Group, where he led the finance operations across the division along with being responsible for FP&A, reporting, compliance and audit clearance.
Jeff Liang, Chief Digital Officer
Jeff is the Chief Digital Officer at Assembly. He responsible for digital client programs, tools and platforms. Jeff brings over 16 years of strategic media and marketing experience to Assembly, having led and developed digital practices for major holding companies including: Publicis, Omnicom, WPP, and IPG. His work has received recognition from Cannes Lions, Effies, Advertising Age, Adweek, IAB, and OMMA, among others.

Prior to joining Assembly, Jeff served as Senior Vice President, Media Lead at Starcom Mediavest Group, where he established agency capabilities in audience buying, programmatic, biddable media, data and emerging technology. During his tenure, Jeff led the Samsung investment teams responsible for the award-winning creation of the “Oscars Selfie” moment and Programmatic Search. Earlier, Jeff was the U.S. Director of Digital Investment for PHD, where he was critical in expanding the agency’s digital teams by three-fold and bringing in key new businesses such as GSK. Jeff also had earlier stints at Universal McCann, Mindshare, Razorfish, and OMD Worldwide leading digital client teams.
Sarah Power, Chief Strategy and Research Officer
Sarah Power is Assembly’s first Chief Strategy and Research Officer. In this role, Sarah helps drive the strategic direction across the client roster, elevating data and information into superior insights and actions. Prior to Assembly, Sarah held communications strategy roles at several global holding companies. She has extensive experience crafting compelling stories for companies such as Dr. Pepper Snapple Group and MillerCoors. Most recently, she served as Chief Strategy Officer at Initiative, where she was critical in bringing in the GoDaddy and Papa John’s accounts last year. Earlier, Sarah worked at both MPG and at Carat USA.
Catherine Warburton, Chief Investment Officer
Catherine is the Chief Investment Officer for Assembly. She leads media buying across television, radio, digital video and print at Assembly, and is responsible for over $3.75B of annual client billings. She most recently served as Vice President of Business Development at FOX Sports Media Group. Prior, she held several roles at UM, including Executive Vice President, Managing Partner of U.S. Buying, where she managed more than $2 billion of multi-media investments for clients such as Charles Schwab, Wingspan and Sony. Before UM, Catherine served as Senior Vice President of National Broadcast at Carat.
