Through the AAAA Foundation, Operation Jumpstart scholarships are granted to students of diverse ethnic backgrounds at post-graduate portfolio schools in an effort to increase the diversity of art directors and copywriters in the advertising industry. The Foundation also administers the following scholarships for people of color and women: the Bill Bernbach Minority Scholarship, the John Mack Carter Scholarship, the ANA Multicultural Excellence Scholarship, the Forbes Media Scholarship and the Advertising Age Media Scholarship. Operation Jumpstart III
Operation Jump Start III, which began in the summer of 2006, provides financial assistance to aspiring multicultural art directors and copywriters. The program is a continuation of Operation Jump Start I and II, which has provided scholarships for more than 130 students since 1998.
Scholarship Amount: $10,000 paid in two annual installments
Eligibility: An applicant will be considered for a scholarship if he or she meets all of the following criteria:

Registered as an incoming graduate or portfolio school student at one of six designated OJS III portfolio schools (The Miami Ad School, The Portfolio Center, The Pratt Institute, The Ad Center at Virginia Commonwealth University, The Creative Circus, The University of Texas at Austin) or a full-time junior at one of two designated OJS III colleges (The Minneapolis College of Art & Design or The Art Center College of Design at Pasadena)

Is African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, Native American, multiracial or multiethnic

Has extreme financial need

Shows creative talent and promise

Is a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

Bill Bernbach Minority Scholarship
The Bill Bernbach Minority Scholarship, sponsored by DDB Worldwide, recognizes excellence in art direction and copywriting by awarding five students $5,000 each. Scholarship recipients fly to New York for dinner with the DDB Worldwide Board and meet with industry creative leaders. The scholarship also offers recipients the possibility of a paid, post-graduate residency at DDB.
Scholarship Amount: $5,000 paid in one installment
Eligibility: An applicant will be considered for a scholarship if he or she meets all of the following criteria:

John Mack Carter Scholarship
The John Mack Carter Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to women pursuing a graduate degree in media planning at the University of Texas at Austin.
Scholarship Amount: $5,000 paid in two annual installments
Eligibility: An applicant will be considered for a scholarship if he or she meets all of the following criteria:

Is a woman

Is able to demonstrate financial need, career commitment, leadership skills and strategic thinking

Is registered full-time in the University of Texas at Austin’s graduate advertising program with a concentration in media management or media studies

Is a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

ANA Multicultural Excellence Scholarship
The Association of National Advertisers Multicultural Excellence Scholarship is awarded to three undergraduate MAIP interns in good standing. The funds may be used for undergraduate studies at any accredited college or university in the United States of America. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of demonstrated academic ability.
Scholarship Amount: $2,000 paid in one installment
Eligibility: An applicant will be considered for a scholarship if he or she meets all of the following criteria:

Is a AAAA Multicultural Advertising Intern Program intern in good standing
-
Is a rising senior
-
Has a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Attends an accredited college or university in the U.S.
Application Information: Qualifying MAIP interns may receive an application from the AAAA. The scholarship is presented at the annual MAIP graduation in August.
Forbes Media Scholarship
The Forbes Media Scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing a master's degree in advertising with a concentration in media at the Virginia Commonwealth University Adcenter.
Scholarship Amount: $5,000 paid in two annual installments
Eligibility: An applicant will be considered for a scholarship if he or she meets all of the following criteria:

The Advertising Age Media Scholarship provides financial assistance to an incoming, first-year graduate student in the Virginia Commonwealth University Adcenter’s Creative Media Planning program.
Scholarship Amount: $10,000 paid in two annual installments
Eligibility: An applicant will be considered for a scholarship if he or she meets all of the following criteria:
